Bakkafrost’s latest collaboration with FORKA Biogas Plant resulted in great success. In 2022, Bakkafrost’s recycled bio-waste provided 1,223 households with electricity, a total of 2.3% of the renewable electrical production of the Faroe Islands.

HEALTHY SALMON

Bakkafrost has the market’s longest vertically integrated value chain located in a very small geographical area. The value chain extends throughout the farming process, from receiving fish, from MSC approved quotas, to the internal production of fishmeal and fish oil used for the specially in-house made feed. The raising process from roe to fully grown salmon takes almost 3 years.
